Štěpán Mikula works at Masaryk University as a researcher specializing in empirical microeconomics. It mainly deals with topics in the field of labor market economics: determinants of internal and international migration, discrimination in the labor market or discrimination in access to public services. Within the Czech Republic, he researches the impact of the post-war settlement of the Sudetenland on residential migration, the formation of social capital and electoral behavior, the effects of environmental quality on internal migration and discrimination against socially disadvantaged population groups. Applied research focuses mainly on analyzes of the population of foreign workers in the Czech Republic.
