Stanislav Balík's main areas of research interest are the local level of governance and modern Czech politics. The pandemic fully showed a number of problems in the institutional setting of public administration, in the relations between individual components and levels. It also revealed the importance of the lowest level of governance in times of crisis in relation to the self-governance of individual communities. As part of the project, he deals with issues of relations between the independent and transferred powers of municipalities and the distribution of competences between various public administration actors, not only in the context of a pandemic.
