Cardiometabolic risk increases with lower education

Cardiometabolic risk is described by many experts as the threat of the 21st century. Unlike other health problems, it is not genes that play the primary role, but factors that we can largely influence, such as lifestyle. Scientists at Masaryk University and the National Institute SYRI have found that cardiometabolic risk is significantly higher in people with lower levels of education. These individuals are more likely to engage in unhealthy behaviours such as smoking and poor eating habits. "The role of the environment in which we live is also important," says Daniel Szabó from the National Institute of the Czech Republic and Masaryk University.
