Alena Křížková is a researcher and head of the Department of Gender and Sociology at the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v. v. i. She deals with the economic independence of women, gender differences in remuneration, the combination of work and care, gender relations in organizations and in business, extending working life, digitization and market precarization work. She is the recipient of the Otto Wichterle Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 2009. In 2014 – 2015, she received a Fulbright scholarship and at Arizona State University conducted cross-sectional qualitative research on the entrepreneurship of disadvantaged population groups in comparison with the Czech Republic and the USA. She is a member of the editorial board of the magazine Gender and research, a member of the Committee for balanced representation of women and men in politics and management positions at the Government Council for Equality of Women and Men, and a member of the management team of the Global Women's Entrepreneurship Policy (Global WEP) research network. She is a national expert for the Czech Republic in Scientific analysis and advice on gender equality in the EU (SAAGE), which reports on the development of gender equality directly to the European Commission.
